Team Effort Saves the Life of a 3-year old in West Grove Borough

SCCEMS paramedics Ron Berardocco and Jake Barnes along with the West Grove Fire Company EMS staff and Southern Chester County Regional Police had the opportunity to meet a very special patient on Thursday.

Logan Hamilton and his family stopped by West Grove Fire Company Station 22 to say thank you and to meet the team that helped save his life on June 12.

Just before 8:00 am that morning of June 12th, Logan was having breakfast in West Grove Borough when he began choking on some food.

Logan's parents immediately called 9-1-1 and Logan's mom immediately began efforts to clear Logan's airway and start CPR. EMS and Fire units from the West Grove Fire Company along with Pennsylvania State Police Trooper, Southern Chester County Regional Police and both MEDIC 94 units responded.

Arriving on scene first, West Grove Fire Company EMT Danielle Hughes, along with Mike Lindsay and Mike Oaster, began to care for Logan, SCCEMS paramedics Ron Berardocco and Jake Barnes from Medic 94 (Southern Chester County EMS) arrived on scene shortly thereafter and initiated advanced life support care. On scene and en route to the hospital, a true team effort with Officer Justin Busam of the Southern Chester County Regional Police, firefighters from the West Grove Fire Company and 7 Pennsylvania State Trooper all assisting with the resuscitative efforts and support for the family.
